JAG Position (Jobs for America's Graduates)

July 19, 2020

Wewoka Public School District is proud to announce that Melissa Findley has been hired by the Office of Educational Quality and Accountability to be the full time JAG (Jobs for America's Graduates) school liaison for our district. Her salary is paid for by a grant and Wewoka was one of six Oklahoma districts selected. Wewoka is the only rural school district selected to be a part of this program. We believe the impact of the JAG program will be life changing for our students.

Mrs. Findley has been a licensed counselor for 10 years. Her focus has been on teens and children. She is trained in trauma focused care, neurofeedback, and play therapy. Mrs. Findley worked with victims of domestic violence and assault before becoming a licensed counselor. She has worked with Wewoka Schools as a contract counselor for the past 3 years.

Mrs. Findley has an excellent working relationship with our school counselors and they will continue to work together recruiting and supporting students in the JAG program. Because of Mrs. Findley's work experience, her first hand knowledge of our students, and her previous working relationship with our staff, she was the perfect candidate for the JAG position.

Mrs. Findley will be teaching classes part of the day that will include resume writing, interviewing, and other skills need to obtain employment. Students have to qualify for the program by meeting specific criteria. Mrs. Findley will also be arranging and supervising job shadowing opportunities for students. Wewoka is thrilled to be a part of this pilot program.

Melissa is married to Aaron Findley and they have two lovely daughters Reagan, a graduate of Wewoka and ECU, and Braxton, who recent graduate from Wewoka High School. Her family loves to travel and spend time together. She is very excited to have the opportunity to use her knowledge and experience to help Wewoka students reach their full potential
